The Path to Milk Wood
"These poems, with all their crudities, doubts and confusions are written for the love of a man and in praise of God, and I'd be a damn fool if they weren't"
So wrote Dylan Thomas, author of Under Milk Wood, previously journalist, novelist, actor, broadcaster and a writer of film scripts.
This presentation by Colin Pinney gives a picture of the author's erratic career and his final struggle to complete his "eternally infernally unfinished play"
Colin Pinney, who last year presented PATRICK FATHER OF THE BRONTES at the Studio, recounts the story of Dylan Thomas from his early beginnings in Swansea, including his early attempts to be a journalist, followed by a career as an actor and writer of film scripts.
The story is enhanced and illustrated by extracts from Dylan's works and highlights his struggles to complete what he call his "eternally infernally unfinished play"
The programme culminates with an account of his visits to America and his final performance in New York of UNDER MILK WOOD.
