Epsom Light Opera Company present Hot Mikado
From the award-winning company who recently brought you ‘West Side Story’, ‘Calamity Jane’, and ‘Singin’ In The Rain’, this spring, Epsom Light Opera Company proudly presents: HOT MIKADO.
ELOC’s production of the musical comedy ‘Hot Mikado’, sees East meet gangster Chicago in this ‘hot’ updating of Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘The Mikado’. With modern jazz arrangements of Arthur Sullivan's glorious music whilst retaining all of W. S. Gilbert's bitingly acerbic wit, this show has everything; beautiful ballads, stunning choreography and laugh-out-loud humour. The show is set in Japan in the late 1940s and transports you to the fantasy city of Titipu, where a ban on flirting has just been passed. A fabulous cast brings to life a story of disguise, intrigue, star-crossed lovers and hopefully a happy ending for all. With a mix of dance and musical styles from blues to swing and gospel, plus a few surprises along the way, classic songs such as ‘The Sun And I’, ‘Three Little Maids’ and ‘Tit Willow’ are transformed into jazz-tastic numbers to have you swingin’ all the way home!
If you like your jazz hot and your comedy cool, you will love this sizzling musical. Be sure to book your tickets today!
