Register to Vote
To vote at these elections you must be registered to vote, but you do not need to register again if you are already on the electoral register. The deadline to register to vote at this is 26 November 2019. If you want to check if you are registered then you can contact us by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone on 01372 732000.
If you are already registered then you will receive a poll card giving information about polling hours and the address of your polling station soon after 11 November 2019. If you registered to vote after 1 November 2019 then your poll card will be sent out around 2 December 2019.
Can’t vote in person?
If you are not able to vote in person on 12 December 2019 you can either have a postal vote or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. Application forms for postal and proxy votes are available on our "who can vote and how?" page.
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday, 26 November 2019.
The deadline to appoint a proxy is by no later than 5pm, Wednesday, 4 December 2019.
Postal votes will be sent out by 1st class post around 27 November and we expect them to arrive by 30 November. If you are going on holiday before or close to that date, you may prefer to appoint a proxy.
If after 5pm on 4 December you become unwell, or for work reasons cannot vote in person, the deadline to appoint an emergency proxy is 5pm, Thursday, 12 December. Contact the elections office on 01372 732000 for more information on how to arrange one.
